The Semilla Collection is an initiative of the UTB that was born in 2014 with the aim of encouraging the love of reading in its students, teachers and workers; contributing significantly to the comprehensive training of students and the development of the community. It is a commitment by the University that seeks to train upright professionals, according to the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Graciela Franco Martínez.

The launch of a new book from the Collection is accompanied by workshops, forums and other activities around the themes that arise from the books, so that spaces that encourage the enjoyment of reading are provided.

This plan is also a contribution to the goal of the Ministry of National Education that hopes to get more Colombians to read. Studying is not just an act of doing exercises. The fundamental thing for this practice to be formative is to learn to think, concludes several investigations, among them the one carried out by the professor of the University of New York, Richard Arum, in which it is also revealed that university students have a low level of reading ability. and this weakens their reading comprehension and writing skills.
